So they passed some sort of deal in the Senate last night, and expect the House to pass the same thing so the President can sign it and the "Bush Tax Cut" rates will stay in place for those making less than $450K, and the AMT will be "fixed" from here on out. Well, whoopee doo.
First reaction: good, I make well under that amount, and the Bush tax rates are just fine with me. I hope the child tax credit of $1000 per child stays in place, too, because I have five children now. I also like that they aren't cutting spending across the board, because my job (and thousands of others' jobs) depends on that same government spending.
Second reaction: WTF... This whole thing is simply unsustainable. The problem is that too much depends on government spending way beyond its means. See the links at the right to Vox, Karl Denninger, the Economic Collapse Blog. There is simply no way in hell that the current situation keeps working forward into the future. It must crash at some point. Yet, it doesn't crash.
The Democrats seem to think that this actually CAN go on forever. I don't see a crash yet, they don't see a crash yet. What the hell, maybe they're right.
All I know is that for now, at least, my job should be safe and I can continue to support my family a bit longer.

Every thieving banker around the world is spending every waking hour trying to figure a way to keep the sun from setting, but it will.
They will run out of props and temporary fixes...soon.
It will crash. Next month? Probably not. Next year? Maybe. This decade? For certain.
One thing for sure... the longer THEY manage to forestall the inevitiable, the more time WE have to prepare.
The credit card era for the average American is about to fade into history. For the foreseeable future, Mr. & Mrs. Average Joe will once again be living a cash and carry existance.
Better have something salted away besides federal reserve notes and slug coinage to use, they will have become worthless. Obama will succeed in his goal to destroy the dollar.
Trading and bartering will become common again.
Get out of debt. Do not give them the opportunity to confiscate your assets.
I have concluded that Ayn Rand was pretty close to the truth in Atlas Shrugged. These sonsabitches will ride this horse right into the ground. They will destroy anybody and anything - anyhwere - to stay in power. We would have to kill them all to stop them. But since we are not animals, - and they are - we get to watch them destroy civilization as we know it today.
It's a real shame we don't have a few animals on our side.
And our kids? They're going to just love us for all the things we could have done...and didn't.

Truer words...etc
